MOST's 2020 "Leaders in Future Trends (LIFT2.0)" O2O Conference Changed to Online Video Format Explanatory Announcement

I. Purpose of change:
In view of the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, to ensure that mass in-person activities do not increase risk of contagion, the two planned sessions of LIFT O2O Conference will be changed to an online videoconferencing format.
II. Schedule:
The original two sessions announced in the call for applications will be retained, and each will have a length of 10 days. The two sessions will now be held online via videoconferencing, however, and the name of the event has been changed to "2020 Leaders in Future Trends (LIFT2.0) International Online Matching Meetings." In order to give applicants enough time to prepare for the online matching event, the date of the first session has been delayed to November, and the two sessions will have the following schedules:
1. First session: November 9-18, 2020.
2. Second session: December 14-23, 2020.
III. Implementation method:
The organizer, NARLabs, will establish an online virtual conference room, and will arrange online face-to-face interview sessions on the basis of the results of the program website's pairing of corporate recruiting needs with scholars' fields of expertise as follows:
1.NARLabs will first invite domestic companies, universities, and research organizations that wish to recruit high-level overseas talent to submit their recruiting needs, and then ask the 121 applicants who received recommendations in 2020 (see the list of applicants receiving funding) to submit their CVs online. If online matching is successful, NARLabs will arrange online matching meetings consisting of videoconferencing interviews.
2.The 121 applicants who received recommendations in 2020 (see recommended applicants list) shall come to Taiwan via their own arrangements after successful online matching, and may then apply to NARLabs for round-trip single-person airfare subsidies prior to January 29, 2021 (must attach proof of an interview with a domestic firm); airfare subsidy qualifications will be lost if this application is late.
3.Apart from the aforementioned applicants receiving recommendations, other applicants who have registered on the program website may take part in online matching arranged by NARLabs for this year (2020), but these individuals will not receive round-trip airfare subsidies after matching is successful.
IV. The organizer shall have the right to make revised announcements at any time concerning any matters not specified in this announcement, and may handle such matters in accordance with contract or other relevant regulations.
